»I don't know exactly when I got hooked on art. Maybe it goes back to my childhood. When I was five years old, I fell in love with painting supplies and books about the works of famous artists on my father's bookshelf. For me, art and creation became a magical gate to another world, a kind of invisible door that I opened when reality offered nothing. I could enter the magical world of art and disappear.
 
In my work for the Royal Opera, I have tried to recreate the eternal mission of art, by portraying it in godlike figures, in a time where cruelty and mercilessness have become visible to contemporary man. Gods who, with music, ballet and opera, transform a world caught in thorns and flames into something else. To a clean, colorful and healing power.

The question of why we create art and how much society needs artists has always been a big question for me throughout my career. This project has been a reminder to me of the crucial, inevitable and necessary role that art and artists have for people, society and culture.«
